Dice cose, legge numeri… una piccola ossessione… siamo in molti sul
pianeta Terra, ma quanti? Tanti numeri mettono ansia o forse no, forse
ottengono l’effetto contrario, forse restano solo numeri. Fotoromanzo è
un’insieme di memorie collettive, di frasi fatte, ascoltate più e più volte alla radio, al bar, per strada. Storie che riecheggiano amori passati, presenti, …
…ecco la parola giusta: amore. Ma come parlarne senza mettere in campo la solita narrazione di eventi, senza svalutarne ulteriormente il senso?
Fotoromanzo nasce sbagliato, le immagini gli sono negate, c’è solo la voce: il
moderno invecchia istantaneamente ma da oggi lo potete facilmente sostituire
[..] Qui siamo al sicuro […] in un attimo l’uomo cade nella sua primordiale
istintualità. Frasi deposte ed ora esposte al contagio; famigliari ma lontane, poetiche e stanche. Buon ascolto.
It says things, it reads numbers… a little obsession… there are many of us on
Earth, but how many? So many numbers make you anxious or maybe not,
perhaps they produce the exact opposite effect, maybe they are just numbers.
Fotoromanzo is a collection of common memories, of phrases heard on the
radio, at the bars, in the streets over and over again. Stories that echo
relationships from the past, the present, … here is the right word: love.
How could we talk about that without using the usual narrative of events,
without further devaluing its meaning? Fotoromanzo was born unheard, the
images are forbidden, only a voice is heard: “the modern gets the old instantly
but from today you can easily replace it […]. Here we are safe […] in a moment
man falls into his primordial instinctuality”. Words laid down and now exposed
to contagion; familiar but distant, poetic and tired.

BIO
Sergio Breviario nasce a Bergamo nel 1974. Nel 1998 si diploma
all’Accademia di Brera, Milano. Nel 1998, tramite il Progetto Erasmus, studia
presso la Kingston University di Londra e nel 2002 partecipa al Corso
Superiore di Arti Visive presso la Fondazione Ratti di Como. Nel 2006
frequenta un workshop “Wherever We Go”, tenuto dall’artista Adrian Paci,
dove il confronto con altri artisti europei si è poi rivelato fondamentale. Tra
alcune esposizioni recenti: “Ventiduemilanovecentodiciannove” presso
Surplace Art Space, a Varese nel 2019 e “Nimbo o Aureola Quadrata e il
disegno di Watteaux”, a cura di Gianluca Brogna, “Ex Elettrofonica”, Roma,
2019.
Sergio Breviario was born in Bergamo in 1974. In 1998 he graduated from the
Accademia di Brera (Milan) and in the same year participated at the Erasmus
Programme which brought him to study in London at Kingston University (UK).
In 2002 he took part in the “Visual Arts Advanced Course” at Fondazione Ratti
in Como (Italy) and few years later he attended a workshop "Wherever We
Go" held by the artist Adrian Paci, where the dialogue with other European
artists was fundamental for his artistic career (2006). Among his latest
exhibitions: “Vitello Tonnato”, Plutschow Gallery, Zurigo (Switzerland, 2016);
“Walkabout 01”, Chocolate Factory Foundation for Arts, Blenio (Switzerland,
2018); "Ventiduemilanovecentodiciannove" at Surplace Art Space, Varese
(2019) and "Nimbo o Aureola Quadrata e il disegno di Watteaux", curated by
Gianluca Brogna, at Ex Elettrofonica, Rome (2019).
