Michele Dolz (Castellón, Spagna 1954), vive a Milano e insegna Storia dell’Arte Cristiana all’Università Pontificia della Santa Croce, in Roma. È autore di numerosi libri su arte e spiritualità, tra cui Il Dio bambino (Mondadori 2001), Lo splendore delle cose (Ancora 2001), Il volto del Padre (con Rodolfo Papa. Ancora 2004), Arte Cristiana in Italia (direttore Timothy Verdon, stesura del terzo volume. San Paolo 2008), La pietà Lombarda. Ma fece di sé stesso un’icona inseparabile dalla sua arte, un personaggio inafferrabile, un mix di timidezza, di ottusità, di curiosità, di glamour, di superficialità. A oltre trent’anni dalla sua morte ci si chiede se l’uomo Warhol fosse veramente così. E in questa inchiesta emerge un aspetto che quasi nessuno conosceva mentre egli era in vita: Warhol era un fervente cattolico, dedito privatamente alla preghiera, alla beneficenza, all’aiuto agli altri. La sua fede dovette però fare i conti con la sovraesposizione mediatica.
